A Robe for Armor

“Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood but…

  • against principalities,
  • against powers,
  • against the rulers of the darkness of this age,
  • against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.” (Ephesians 6:10-12)

This warfare is real. Ask any follower of Christ! We are faced with this wrestling match all day, every day.  We fight thoughts, feelings, and even at times, dreams at night.  Each person has their own battle(s), but the great news is that we have been given mighty weapons. They are unseen, and we do not fight alone! We have plenty of help.

It may be unseen in the natural, but it is felt and manifested in ways we are all aware of. Just look at the world today. It is evident in our jobs, friendships, families, governments and now even the churches. Nations are rising against nations right in front of our eyes. It shows up in anger, depression, fears, anxiety, violence, bigotry, and the like. It seems like everyone and everything is being separated. This is not the time to be laxed toward the promises and predictions of God.

“…that you should remember the predictions of the holy prophets and the commandment of the Lord and Savior through your apostles, knowing this first of all, that scoffers will come in the last days with scoffing, following their own sinful desires. They will say, “Where is the promise of his coming? For ever since the fathers fell asleep, all things are continuing as they were from the beginning of creation.” For they deliberately overlook this fact, that the heavens existed long ago, and the earth was formed out of water and through water by the word of God, and that by means of these the world that then existed was deluged with water and perished. The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance.”

‭‭2 Peter‬ ‭3:2-6, 9‬ ‭ESV‬‬

His will toward us is good! Read it once more. He is patient towards all people. Not wanting anyone to suffer, but to repent (stop, turn around and change). I can certainly attest to this ongoing warfare, as many of you can too.  I can also tell you great news!  God fights for us every single time! We have the victory as we trust Him.

Every battle is used for our good and our growth. His ways are amazing, mysterious, and always perfectly timed! It’s like coming out of the gym after a workout. You’re tired, but yet joyful with a sense of accomplishment.

The world is upside down. We all know it! I think that most of us who would honestly take a deeper look around, and a deeper look within, can make a positive difference in this world beginning with ourselves then moving onto relationships around us. We can all do something good to help. Kindness is powerful. It’s actually one of the fruits in our lives that prove we belong to Jesus.

“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.”

‭‭Galatians‬ ‭5:22-24‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Look how Jesus responds…

“But love your enemies, and do good, and lend, expecting nothing in return, and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High, for he is kind to the ungrateful and the evil.”

‭‭Luke‬ ‭6:35‬ ‭ESV‬‬

He’s even kind to the ungrateful and evil. How could you not want to follow Him, right? If you are a follower of Christ then you are a child of God!  Rejoice and put on the Armor of God, which is Jesus!  You will be victorious all the way to Heaven. Once there, you’ll get to turn in your armor and receive a “Robe of Righteousness.”  No more wrestling!

    1. How awesome it has been to take that “leap of faith” and be carried from there. But.. He knew I couldn’t without the encouragement and guidance from you, my brother. Pastor Joe, you are the one who has walked this past year with me, post by post! You too are in this purpose and I’m ever so grateful for your support and friendship! I’m so happy He is allowing me to use my “pen” for His Kingdom!
(Even though it’s really my finger on the phone). Whatever happened to typewriters and paper? Oh well, whatever works, right.
All glory and praise belong to Jesus alone🛡

Jackie, I Love this beautiful post. I especially love this quote, “Every battle is used for our good and our growth”. You know you are maturing in Christ when you come to that realization. It’s not easy to believe and have faith that the Lord is fighting our battles, but when we truly surrender and let Him take over we have such peace. ALL things work for the good of those who love the Lord and are called according to His purposes. I love how you bring it all back to the Lord. Keep writing and blessing others for Jesus! Love ya.
