Bread of Life!

My first reaction to putting something in our church newsletter was to share an encouragement or praise report.  I had a different story I was going to share, until this morning…

I was sitting at my kitchen table reading my 15 year old Bible while having a cup of coffee.  Yes, it was yet another wonderful and quiet time with my Lord.  Moments like these have been far in between for me, in the past.  But for now, this season is filled with quiet moments where I can once again think, read, pray, and hear God through His Word.

Minutes earlier I had put on a coat over my pajamas, grabbed the bag of bird seeds and walked out to the yard to fill up the feeder.  I went back inside to sip my coffee and continue reading.  Looking out the window, I saw three birds sitting on the fence getting ready to eat their breakfast. That’s when I heard Him say in my heart, “Thank you for feeding my birds.”

I saw that one of the birds had gone down to the feeder and then the other two followed. He continued to speak to my heart, “You thought about these birds, went to the store, paid for their food, carried the heavy bag of seeds into your house, put the seeds into the feeder (on a very cold morning) and you are now filled with joy just watching them eat!  Yet, they have done nothing to deserve it. How much more joy do you think I have watching you eat the Bread of Life! I was so blessed!

Now every time I read His Word I always sense He is looking down on me with a smile.

May we always remember how very loved we are by Him and how He watches over us, especially when we are reading His Word.

Jesus replied, “I am the bread of life.  Whoever comes to me will never be hungry again.  Whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.” – John 6:35

Jackie. I am so inspired by reading all of these blogs. It encourages me to get into the word and to listen for his still small voice. I have been so distracted by life situations and decisions that are so unhealthy for me. Dealing with pain every single day isn’t easy for me but I look forward to reading your blogs. They give me hope and something to look forward too

Thank you Jackie for reminding me that He values us! Luke 12:24
“Consider the ravens (birds): They do not sow or reap; they have no storehouse or barn, yet God feeds them. How much more valuable are you than the birds!”. I loved this short devotional. Keep writing, keep sharing your moments. Keep moving forward in Christ! Love you my dear sister.
