Yup, I needed to do this several times the other day. I had to bring my emotions and feelings about a personal pressing issue to God. I couldn’t sleep trying to settle it in my heart.
“Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.”
Proverbs 4:23 NIV
The Lord told us that we would have difficulties and trials in this world. Yet, when challenging things happen to us, we can forget this and go down the road of discouragement so quickly that our head spins.
Recently I saw a post that was titled “Pause.” It’s so important to not react too quickly to our emotions. It’s best to pause and pray and even sleep on it. Sometimes we can react so quickly that we can say or do something we will later regret.
Pride and ego are twins! They cause so much destruction!
Wise people think before they act; fools don’t—and even brag about their foolishness.
Proverbs 16:13 NLT
I certainly never want not to fall into that ugly trap. We must submit to God and resist the temptation to react compulsively. We must not allow unfavorable things to settle in our hearts and cause bitterness and unforgiveness. This stuff is poison to our bodies and souls. It will destroy our relationships and take away all joy and peace. It can rob our entire life if we let it! I’ve seen this happen in the lives of those I care about.
The Bible says that we must remember that we war not against flesh and blood (people) but against the enemy of our souls.
“For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places.”
Ephesians 6:12 NLT
Stay alert and remember, we are precious to Him and He does the fighting for us.🛡️🙏🏻
