Hello and God bless you guys! Thank you for taking a few moments to read my journal.
Here is yet another story about the fun and awesome ways in which God works in my life and in the life of others. Be encouraged knowing that He is watching over you and wants to show you the plan He has just for your life. Just trust Him and grab His hand.
I was talking to a very special friend the other day. Her name is Donna, but we all know her warmly as “Ms. L”.
…Gym class for the upper grades was just finishing up. Ms. L walked over to me and we began to talk a little. She told me that she was thinking about how we met and the “weird way” in which it happened. She was amazed because here we were still connecting, somehow. I just smiled and agreed. Ms. L has made it clear, she is not always comfortable speaking to adults, or to people in general. It takes effort for her. But, on the day we met at the park, it was different. I bet it was the kids. Children always have a way of bringing adults together! We talked and rejoiced over the way God has orchestrated our relationship.
About 20 years ago, I was at Bayonne Park with my boys, then 12 and 8. That’s were I met Donna. We said hello and began a conversation. As we were talking, I learned that she was a teacher. She mentioned that her next teaching position was going to be at a school near her home. “Oh, very nice.” I said. “So where will you be teaching and what grade?” I asked. “Oh,” she said, “It’s a school called Beacon Christian Academy and I’ll be teaching 6th grade!” 😮 We had never seen each other before this day. I turned around and called my son Michael. Hey, Michael, “ca’ mere.” That’s Jersey talk for “come here.” Michael came running up to us and very politely said hello. I then proceeded to introduce him to her. I told him, “This is your new teacher.”
Both of their jaws dropped, and so did mine. We were all shocked and laughing! It was such a funny surprise. Of course, I don’t believe in coincidences!
Ms. L is still teaching at BCA blessings kids with her gift and relating to them the love of God. And of course, you can’t walk into her classroom without feeling the peace that is present. Not to mention all the wonderful “teacher apples” she has received over the years! To me, she is a gift to these kids.
Ms. L also wonders how in the world we are still walking close paths. I believe that it’s because it’s all part of God’s amazing plan.
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.”Proverbs 3:5-6
Many of us read this Scripture so often that it becomes so familiar and it doesn’t affect us or comfort us the way it should.
God is beyond our understanding. His ways are incomprehensible! We can’t even explain the natural beauty of springtime bursting with colors, fragrance, butterflies, and birds singing all over year after year!
The Bible says that God holds all things together and that we are the greatest and most beautiful of His creation. He breathed His very own breath into us and made us to be like Him. As we surrender to His will and believe in Jesus’ love for us, all other things will begin to come into place. Just as He has planned it out already.
“He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through him and for him. And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together.”Colossians 1:15-17 ESV
It’s amazing what God does in and for us as we live for Him daily. Before you know it, 20 years have gone by.
Thank you Ms. L for reminding me of that day at the park. I’m so happy we met and that we are, as you said, “God-sisters” in Christ.
His ways are not our ways!
