Cherries and other good choices.

I don’t know about you but I absolutely love sweet fresh cherries, especially when they look like this with the stem and leaves still hanging on.  So pretty!  I bought some cherries today and, of course, I can’t stop popping them in my mouth.  Even though too many are not good for your sugar levels, it’s still the better choice over a cookie.

Natural sugars are ok for us in the proper amounts, especially when they come from fresh foods. That’s a big topic! There are many articles on that out there. Simply put, our bodies were meant for real natural foods.  Lord, help us make the right choices!

Pizza and soft hot pretzels are definitely a weakness for me. I wonder if Pizza will be served in Heaven! Hope so.

The other day when I was at Ocean Grove, I bought a book titled “Decision Making” by June Hunt. June offers some very good Biblical counseling on this topic.

Boy, this one topic of healthy eating can be so frustrating! It seems that when we decide on something at times, 50 other paths show up! It’s like going to buy cough medicine. Way too many choices! I prefer 2 or 3 to decide from, not 20 because I then walk away without anything! Too many choices and I freeze up.

When it comes to making BIG decisions it can be overwhelming at times as well. Unless we drop them into God’s Hands, of course. Yes, it sounds easier than it is. Each decision I make must go through His Hands first. If not, then it would be my decision. Not a good idea. I fully admit I don’t know everything. I don’t know the future or even if I will take the next breath. But, I do know that the decision to seek God’s will for my life is the very best decision I can ever make!

He has been so faithful in showing me that every time I’ve trusted Him He has been there to hold me up. A new favorite verse today is,

“For I hold you by your right hand— I, the Lord your God. And I say to you, ‘Don’t be afraid. I am here to help you.”

‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭41:13‬ ‭NLT‬‬

When I look back at some of my own past decisions and how wrong they were, I just cry. We cause so much of our own suffering. Not all, since there are things that happen to us because of someone else’s choices. But, we all have made some decisions that ended up hurting ourselves and sometimes those around us. I pray every day to make the best decisions I can. Life is not waiting for anyone and the days are moving quickly. At times, we waste too much time floundering back and forth with indecisions and frustrations. Yet, God’s Word tells us,

“If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and he will give it to you. He will not rebuke you for asking. But when you ask him, be sure that your faith is in God alone. Do not waver, for a person with divided loyalty is as unsettled as a wave of the sea that is blown and tossed by the wind.”

‭‭James‬ ‭1:5-6‬ ‭NLT

Each and every one of us has a brand new chance every morning to make new choices. The Word of God says,

“The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.”

‭‭Lamentations‬ ‭3:22-23‬ ‭ESV‬‬

Our Beautiful Father will not fail you.

‬Father, I pray you would guide each person reading this devotion to the right door, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

  1. You’ve definitely made the right choice. So many people fuss over how sugary fruits are, but in comparison to everything else that we can eat, fruits are one of the best options available. It amazes me how certain people can rally against fruits, but buy their coffee with extra whipped cream and caramel, lol. Anyway, thanks for this post!
