This scripture is so beautiful and absolutely true! I don’t think anyone would disagree.
Did you know that just a smile or kind word has tons of health benefits.
Here’s just a few I found and wanted to share.
- Mental Well-being: Kind words can alleviate anxiety and depression, similar to how some medications work. They promote feelings of security, confidence, and happiness.
- Physical Healing: Just as “kind words are like honey—sweet to the soul and healthy for the body,” they provide a nourishing effect that can reduce feelings of pain.
- Immune System Boost: Research indicates that kindness and positive interactions can boost the immune system.
- Improved Relationships & Atmosphere:Positive, encouraging communication reduces conflict, fosters connection, and creates a peaceful, supportive environment.

“Therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, put on tender mercies, kindness, humility, meekness, longsuffering; bearing with one another, and forgiving one another, if anyone has a complaint against another; even as Christ forgave you, so you also must do.”
Colossians 3:12-13 NKJV
Being kind and forgiving others is not a suggestion. It’s a command. God’s Word tells us that He will not forgive us…if we don’t forgive others. That’s a big deal.
I believe much of why people can be so unkind to each other is due to Unforgivness in their hearts. Which then leads to bitterness, resentment and ultimately hate which the Bible calls murder.
It’s a very slippery slide to not forgive when life hurts or offends us. We’re also instructed to not go to sleep with it in our heart.
It’s a warning!
“Be angry, and do not sin”: do not let the sun go down on your wrath, nor give place to the devil.”
Ephesians 4:26-27 NKJV
He doesn’t say we can’t be angry. It’s not realistic to think we won’t get angry at times. Sometimes there is legitimate reasons for sure!

We need to be very intentional about this. When hurt, we must choose to forgive. Is this easy? No! But, the alternative is only bitterness. So guard your heart from it and submit it to God who is the only one who can help us.
“Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.”
Proverbs 4:23 NIV
So, when we look at the news of the day or someone says or does something that frustrates, hurts or angers us, let’s look up and say a prayer. Let’s try to be kind and overcome evil with good by covering it with some honey. 🍯

“Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.”
Romans 12:21 NIV
