The other day, my newly retired husband and I were having our morning coffee and talking about something, when I said “Fuhgeddaboudit”
We Jersey folks do have some fun ways of expressing ourselves at times. I need a cup of “cawfee” is another.

Right now I’m sitting on my front porch with my “cawfee”thinking about how much we do need to forget about it. Forget about what’s behind us. Forget about the mistakes and regrets. Forget about the trespasses against us. Recently I was around someone who did trespass against me, many years ago.
Truth is, forgetting doesn’t mean, forgetting.
Things that happen to us don’t just…leave our memory bank. We all know this. I believe that what it does mean is that we must purposely forgive. It means working through the emotions that arise when you think about the trespass or are triggered by the trespass or are even faced with the trespasser! Easy? Nope. But necessary for our own peace.

““Remember not the former things, nor consider the things of old.”
Isaiah 43:18 ESV
Many times over, I’ve had to submit my thoughts and feelings that rise up and cause my joy to begin to deplete. Losing our joy is dangerous to our walk and effectiveness for Christ. The joy of the Lord is our very strength and we must guard our hearts and minds from the schemes of the enemy who wants to steal it at every turn! How do we do this? By prayer and thanksgiving to God everyday…
“And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
Philippians 4:7 ESV
Guard! Think about it. He will places a guard to protect your heart and mind from evil. It makes me think about a guard at a jail or a guard protecting a bank vault. Both are there to stop an action.

Of course we also have guards who protect our homes….although right now, he’s👆🏻just waking up and going to need a snack before he does anything! 🙂
Today, I hope you will remember that it is He who guards us. Our job is to go to Him first before we allow the hurts, thoughts and even trespassers to pull you back into the past. We can’t move forward while looking backward.

Hugs,
Thank you for stopping by.
