Rain or Shine…

I love the sound of rain and always find it so comforting. However, lately it’s been a bit too much. Summer just arrived and the only colors that are uplifting, for me, are blue skies with white fluffy clouds.

In the past, cloudy days just added to the heaviness I would sometimes have to deal with. It’s not easy for those who fight off heaviness (of mind) on a daily basis.

“But you, O Lord, are a shield about me, my glory, and the lifter of my head.”

‭‭Psalm‬ ‭3‬:‭3‬ ‭ESV

This scripture is one of my favorites. He is our comforter and helper when we can’t look up. He is the One who puts his hand on our chin and lifts up our faces to look at Him.

Yes, we can get advice and comfort from others who love us, but the power we need to lift our heads when it’s heavy only comes from meditating on God’s Word and believing it. Trusting in His calming words will always provide us hope and comfort.

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

‭‭Philippians‬ ‭4‬:‭6‬-‭7‬ ‭ESV‬‬

Don’t be worried about ANYTHING, hmm. That can be tough! I know that I have to purposely turn my mind toward these Scriptures right away in order to find rest. God is faithful to ease our pounding hearts as soon as we turn to Him. He cares about everything we are facing and is our help throughout the day.

What about when we are perplexed?

Perplexed: filled with uncertainty PUZZLED

Just know that the disciples experienced this as well. Many times they went through very hard circumstances, yet they would go forward encouraging the church to keep believing no matter what! Paul wrote to us from a prison cell. How? Because the spirit of Jesus sustained him! Not only Paul, but all the early followers of Christ went through trials. Why would some go to their death for this precious Truth? Because they were filled with the Love of God and were compelled to tell about the new covenant and this great news of salvation.

So, no matter the circumstances in your life and mine, we have hope for the future. We can trust in His perfect plan. I heard a statement the other day that was very profound. “Lord, I don’t know what you are doing in my life right now…but…I know what you’ve done” I do know what He’s done and is still doing!

So no matter what, rain or shine…He knows best!
