Food and Relationships

Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!

Psalm 133:1 KJV

What a beautiful day it was!

Some days are so crazy and busy that your head spins and you don’t remember a thing. It’s like a blur. Sometimes weeks are like that also. And sadly, sometimes years can go by in the same manner. Today, I’m grateful that I’m enjoying each moment.

This morning was nice just spending some time reading. My friend, Suzy, stopped by and we had coffee and a nice conversation. We are so grateful for all God has done and is still doing in our lives. We’re both over that “50 mark” so yes, we do know a thing or two about life! (Sorry Sue🤗)

At this point in my life, I’ve been focusing more and more on the people who form a part of it. I believe one of the most important gifts in life are relationships.

Today I also got to talk to my daughter-in-law, Monika, over the phone. Monika met Michael (my son) when she was just 17 years old.  I still remember when my husband and I first met her at the 16th Street park. We were there with our dog, Louie, sitting on the grass (I think we were eating ice cream) waiting for the fireworks to begin.  I remember her little smile and blonde hair. She was so sweet. The next time we met was when she and Michael came over our house one night to hang out and watch a movie. It seems like yesterday. But, this is why it’s so important to cherish the moments with each other!

During our conversation, I went over the process of making my famous cream puffs, which are actually my friend Maria’s recipe. Thanks, buddy, for sharing it with me😇. Monika and I went on talking about different kinds of foods, recipes, and all the things we cooked and planned on cooking for the weekend. I rambled on and on. It’s so nice when we talk. Texting is not the same! I truly enjoyed our conversation🙂.

Oil and incense bring joy to the heart, and the sweetness of a friend is counsel to the soul.

Proverbs 27:9

It was fun talking about food with Monika since I just spent the holidays making a few favorites for my family and friends.  Among other dishes, I made a pot roast, but we didn’t get to eat it. It turns out that Michael and Dad had to get their traditional trip to “Boulevard Drink,” which is a tiny spot on Journal Square that has been there for over 50 years. They serve the best grilled hotdogs and chili 🌶 that no one else can beat!  That was ok, though, because I sent the pot roast home with Michael. Of course I included the gravy; Best one you’ll ever taste! It was my mother’s recipe, by the way.  And yes, I call brown gravy, “gravy” and red sauce, “sauce”!  That’s another story. Lol

So, Michael and Monika, or “M&M” as my dad use to call them, got a nice pot roast dinner for their Christmas.

This year I pray for all who read this post! I wish all to have the most beautiful year filled with restoration, peace, and true joy in every one of your relationships.

God bless you. Have a wonderful and healthy New Year!

What a beautiful share, especially during this pandemic where one thing we do have is “time” to work on our relationships as we spend more meaningful time with loved ones, those near and far. I am still old fashion, and while I am using technology more, like whatsapp video call to see my mom who I have not been able to visit for a year now, I still love to call friends, send cards and letters. And today for us it’s Three Kings Days continuing the celebration of the birth of our Savior.

Awww, what an honor to be mentioned in your post! Truly relationships are God’s designs off expressions of His LOVE towards us!

I’m eternally grateful for His earthly angels who shower us with His LOVE.. You and your family are among those Angels that He’s surrounded me with. Love you sis. 💖🙏😇
