Out Of The Debris

Storms come and go.  We can either get up and clean up after they pass or we can just sit in the debris and live in self absorption and discouragement the rest of our lives.

Recently I was thinking about the last 10 years of my life. I also thought about the next 10.  Not that we know if we’re going to be here tomorrow,  but we should plan ahead and hope for the best.

It’s been a heck of a day at sea! as my sister Kathy would say. She makes me laugh because her expression is so cute. However, when she says it, you can rest assured that for her it really was. Love you Kath, you’re a trooper! You have been such a joy and blessing to our family. Mom and Dad are proud of your love for us.

We all know that life can be just like the image above. We are navigating on the waves of the sea of life. We all face many different storms (Situations, relationships, hopes and disillusionments from unrealistic expectations of others). We make plans for how things will and should be, but they don’t always happen the way we want. So, they can leave us sitting in the storm’s debris.

There was a point in my life when I was sitting in debris. For me, it was a terrible place of discontent and loneliness. Everyone and all my dreams seem like passing clouds. Nothing made sense.

But God! Look at Him! Jesus is beyond words. I’m telling you the truth. He rescued me from the pit. He really did! They say God works in mysterious ways. This is very true. but you must have genuine faith to see it. Take a look at something special in nature that you love and try to explain how it came to be. That’s where our understanding stops and faith comes in. For me, my faith and hope is in God alone.

“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” ‭

Hebrews 11:1 NKJV

When we see and experience God’s love, no one can tell us that it’s not true.  How can anyone understand what is happening inside of us when we are going through a storm? Or, when we experience true joy at any point in our lives? That is when it’s only God and us in that place.

When you are left looking at the debris, my advice to you is, look UP! Jesus will hear your cry and answer your prayers. But, do not expect the answers when and how you want them. He has a better plan.  I can attest to it!

“Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me All the days of my life; And I will dwell in the house of the LORD Forever.”

Psalms‬ ‭23:6‬ ‭NKJV

Love this devotional. Great encouragement on moving forward. Our greatest victories are won after what seems defeat. This is when we realize He’s not done with us yet! God is so good. Thank you for moving forward and starting this new chapter in life. It’s such a blessing. Love you my dear sister.
